Example, not a real client
A made-up café, built to show what a site for a café or bakery looks like: opening hours, a menu as text and calling with one tap.

- When breakfast and lunch are served, and labels for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, right next to the menu title.
- The menu is plain text, not a PDF: it reads well on any screen, and Google can read it.
Challenge
On a phone, café and bakery sites often hide what a guest is looking for: whether it's open today, where it is and how to call. The menu is often a PDF or an image that is hard to read on a phone and that Google can't read.
Juniper & Crumb is a made-up café in a made-up harbour town. I built it as an example for café and bakery owners, so they can see what their own site could look like. The name, address and phone number are made up, and the photos are AI-generated.
What I did
- The essentials first
- Whether the café is open right now (in the café's time zone, not the visitor's), the address and calling with one tap.
- A menu as text
- Coffee, breakfast, lunch and bakes, with dietary labels. Tabs on a phone, no PDF.
- A phone layout like good cafés
- A full-screen menu, a call bar at the bottom and drinks you can swipe through.
- Accessibility
- Works with a keyboard, motion switches off when the device asks for less of it, and anything that moves on its own has a pause button.

Result
In the first screen a guest sees whether the café is open right now, the address and the phone number, and reads the menu as plain text on a phone or a computer.
- PDFs: the menu is plain text
- 0
- tap to call from a phone
